This review focuses on the importance of viability assessment in liver transplantation and the role of dynamic organ preservation methods, such as Hypothermic Oxygenated Perfusion (HOPE). Viability testing plays a critical role in assessing graft quality, especially as donor organs increasingly come from marginal or extended criteria donors (ECDs). The article explores various biomarkers, including mitochondrial markers such as FMN and NADH, which can predict graft function and post-transplant outcomes.
