The article compares liver transplants using circulatory death donors (DCD) with prolonged warm ischemia time to brain-dead donors (DBD). It finds that using normothermic regional perfusion (A-NRP) and hypothermic oxygenated machine perfusion (D-HOPE) improves graft function and reduces complications like ischemic cholangiopathy, resulting in outcomes similar to DBD transplants, despite longer warm ischemia times.
