This multicenter randomized controlled trial assessed the long-term outcomes of hypothermic oxygenated machine perfusion (HOPE) in liver transplantation using extended criteria donor (ECD) livers. Conducted across four European centers with 46 patients, the study found that HOPE significantly reduced late-onset complications and improved graft survival at 1, 3, and 5 years (91.3%, 86.9%, 86.9%) compared to static cold storage (78.3%, 60.6%, 51.9%).
