This study evaluates the cardioprotective effects of Hypothermic Oxygenated Machine Perfusion (HOPE) in a rat model of Donation After Circulatory Death (DCD). HOPE, when applied before normothermic perfusion, demonstrated reduced oxidative stress and improved metabolic recovery by promoting succinate oxidation. The research highlights that HOPE minimizes mitochondrial injury, preserves ATP levels, and decreases cellular damage, ultimately enhancing cardiac function.
