This study examines the role of Hypothermic Oxygenated Machine Perfusion (HOPE) in mitigating post-reperfusion syndrome (PRS) and perioperative electrolyte shifts during liver transplantation. PRS is a significant complication associated with hemodynamic instability, leading to increased morbidity. By comparing liver grafts treated with HOPE to those preserved through static cold storage (SCS), the study demonstrates that HOPE provides better hemodynamic stability, lowers the need for vasopressors, and reduces early allograft dysfunction (EAD).
