This study focuses on the potential of Flavin Mononucleotide (FMN) as a biomarker for predicting organ quality and post-transplant outcomes. FMN, released from mitochondrial complex I during reperfusion, indicates the extent of ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI). The research investigates FMN levels in perfusate samples during normothermic and hypothermic machine perfusion (NMP and HOPE). The study highlights FMN as a reliable tool to assist in organ acceptance decisions and assess graft quality before transplantation.
