This study investigates the impact of end-ischemic Hypothermic Oxygenated Machine Perfusion (HOPE) on split-liver transplantation using a porcine model. The research highlights how HOPE helps recover liver function and mitigates ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI), making it a viable strategy to optimize marginal grafts, such as split-liver grafts. The study compares cold storage (CS) to a combination of CS followed by 2 hours of HOPE, showing that HOPE improves biochemical markers, reduces inflammation, and enhances histological outcomes post-transplantation.
